Mind Body Wellness Coach

I started out as a Wellness Coach 16 years ago, with a primary focus on helping people to lose weight through food and lifestyle choices. Whilst working with my clients, I noticed that we would spend more time working on their mindsets and less on what to eat and not to eat and realised our relationship with both ourselves and food was just as important, if not more so, than what we actually eat.  This drove me to wanting to learn more about the mind body connection.

Through the study and research of Wellness coaching, Nutrition, Psychology of Eating, Body Image, Disordered eating, Neuroscience for Health and Mindfulness, I have a better understanding of how each aspect is interlinked to our overall health and happiness and the importance of the connection of the mind and the body.

As a Coach I had to reflect on my own past and acknowledge that I had a problem and had been battling with Orthorexia and Anorexia-Athletica (obsession with exercise and healthy eating) . I was living out of a place of fear and anxiety, struggling with body dissatisfaction and constantly thinking about what exercise I should do and what food I should be eating or not eating. I struggled most of my life so unnecessarily and did not realise how much anxiety and pressure I was putting on myself to look a certain way. Driven by fear and hate for my body, I am now able to have respect and acceptance for my body. I no longer obsess and worry about exercise and healthy eating as much as I used to, allowing me to intuitively move my body and eat the foods that give me pleasure. Instead of negative and sabotaging thoughts, my mind is filled with compassion and love towards myself and my body. Whilst I still struggle with my body image, I feel closer to a place of self awareness, acceptance and peace within myself

Whilst studying, researching, and putting together this online business, my eldest daughter, Georgie (then 17 years old) began facing her own internal struggles with her body and an eating disorder which resulted in her being diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression.

I was fortunate to have had some awareness of the signs of the eating disorder and we were able to acknowledge she was heading down a destructive path quite quickly. I thought I was well prepared with all my own personal experience, study, and research and whilst I was more aware than most, nothing could prepare me for watching my own daughter battle with this destructive illness.

We knew Georgie had some learning challenges, but it was only recently that we discovered she has ADD. Whilst not surprising, this revelation brought both clarity and relief. Understanding the correlation between neurodiversity and eating disorders became a pivotal moment of understanding, shedding light on the struggles she faced, including her battle with an eating disorder.

While Georgie continues her path to recovery, it has been a challenging yet learning experience that has allowed both of us to embark on this journey of growth and self-discovery.

My goal is to offer support to both mothers and daughters who find themselves on this challenging journey. Through sharing both my personal experiences and professional insights, I aim to provide valuable tips and tools that can guide individuals towards a path of healing and recovery.

As a Mind Body Wellness Coach I focus on working with the inner weight of our minds, rather than our bodies. I am very passionate about facilitating the empowerment of others to live an authentic life, learning to embrace themselves and others.
